Kålaboda farming Museum

The living conditions and lifestyles of previous farming communities are on show here. Old tools and domestic utensils are amongst the exhibits.
Exhibitions can be arranged for a fee, for groups of at least five people.

Summer 2026 programme:

Sunday 5th July NYSÄTRA SCHOOLS 13.00–15.00
There was a time when there were schools in almost every village. This was also the case in the Nysätra area.
Roland Ivansson, a former headteacher, talks about the ten schools that existed in the Nysätra school district.

Sunday 26th July MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT 13:00–15:00
Father and son, Per and Johannes Moen from Grimsmark, Anna-Lisa Karlsson, and brothers Börje and Einar Brännström from Vebomark will play and sing some lovely old tunes.

Sunday 2th August WAFFLE SERVING 12:00–15:00
We’ll be serving freshly baked waffles with jam and cream. PLEASE NOTE the time. Anyone wishing to hold their own flea market on this day is asked to contact Birgitta Rahm by 31 July at the latest so we can organise the schedule. Please put up a sign and a balloon outside your property on the day.

With car from Umeå center: Follow the E4 heading north for about 65 km, turn left to Burträsk and follow the signs heading to Burträsk for about 15 km. Turn right to go to Östra Kålaboda. Turn left in the first four way crossing (there is a sign that says museum), the museum will be on your left.
